Introduction to A People's History of the United States

A People's History of the United States is Howard Zinn's most famous book and offers one of the most cogent historical materialist readings of American history even written. Originally published in 1980, the book has seen three editions and has been translated into many languages. It was a National Book Award finalist in 1980, and its French translation won the Prix des Amis du Monde Diplomatique in 2003. Zinn edited a primary source companion volume with Anthony Arnove, entitled Voices of A People's History of the United States, which was published in 2004.
