Warriors Don't Cry is Melba Pattillo Beals' memoir about her experiences as part of the Little Rock Nine. Melba uses diary entries, notes from her mother, old newspaper clippings, and her memories to explain what happened to her and the eight other Black students who fought to integrate Little Rock Central High School in 1957. Beyond the physical and emotional violence Melba experienced inside Central High, the memoir also touches on the structural racism that Melba and others in her community received on a larger scale.
