The Return of the King is the third and final volume of J.R.R. Tolkien's The Lord of the Rings, and shows the separated members of the Fellowship of the Ring continuing on in their effort to defeat the Dark Lord Sauron and bring peace to Middle-Earth. As the wizard Gandalf, the Ranger Aragorn, the Wood-Elf Legolas, the Dwarf Gimli and the hobbits Pippin and Merry battle to save Gondor from the armies of Sauron, the hobbits Frodo and Sam finally arrive in Mordor, and attempt to destroy the Sauron's Ring once and for all.
