Published in 2007, Diary of a Wimpy Kid is the first of seventeen (soon to be eighteen) books written by Jeff Kinney for the Wimpy Kid series.

Diary of a Wimpy Kid is the story of sixth grader Greg Heffley and the experiences he has during his first year of middle school. The book is written as if it were Greg's own personal diary. As the narrator, Greg reflects on his relationships with friends and family, and his desires and struggles to fit in at school.
