The New Jim Crow Lesson Plan

The New Jim Crow was first published in 2010 and became a phenomenon. It argues that the current system of mass incarceration is the same as a racial caste system, like the Jim Crow system that followed Reconstruction. In other words, she argues that mass incarceration disproportionately affects people of color in a way that makes them second-class citizens.
