Introduction to Walk Two Moons

Walk Two Moons tells two stories: a road trip that thirteen-year-old Salamanca Tree Hiddle (Sal) takes with her grandparents and the story that Sal tells her grandparents about her friend Phoebe as they drive. Sal and her grandparents are driving from Euclid, Ohio to Lewiston, Idaho, retracing her mother's bus journey and stopping at the same national landmarks and Native American points of interest. Sal is describing the mysterious events surrounding a family crisis of Phoebe's, something that occurred after Sal and her father moved from their home in Bybanks, Kentucky, to Euclid. Through Phoebe's crisis, Sal gains a deeper understanding of her own situation and feelings.
